We are committed to ensuring that both Pupil Premium and Sports Premium funding is used effectively to support the holistic development of our pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Our strategy is tailored to enhance literacy, numeracy, independence, confidence, and relationships, ensuring all pupils have the tools to achieve positive long-term outcomes.

Sports Premium Grants and Funding

The PE and Sport Premium is a Government initiative designed to enhance the quality of physical education and sport in primary schools across England. This funding helps schools encourage greater participation in physical activity, promote healthy lifestyles, and improve PE teaching.

The PE and Sport Premium provides additional financial support to primary schools, enabling them to develop and sustain high-quality PE provision. This funding is crucial in ensuring that children remain active, engaged, and motivated to adopt lifelong healthy habits.

How we use the funding

Each eligible school receives a base grant of £16,000 per year, plus an additional £10 per pupil (for Year 1 to Year 6).

Schools have the flexibility to allocate the PE and Sport Premium funding in ways that best support their pupils' physical education and well-being. This may include:

Hiring qualified sports coaches to deliver specialised PE sessions
Providing CPD for teachers to improve PE teaching standards
Purchasing new sports equipment to enhance PE lessons and extracurricular activities
Expanding extracurricular opportunities, such as after-school sports clubs
Increasing active play opportunities during break times
Supporting initiatives like the 'Daily Mile' to encourage regular physical activity.

Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium is an allocation of additional funding provided to schools to improve the educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in state funded schools in England.

Pupil premium is not a personal budget for individual pupils, and schools do not have to spend pupil premium so that it only benefits pupils who meet the funding criteria. It can be used:

to support other pupils with identified needs, such as those who have or have had a social worker, or who act as a carer
for whole class interventions which will also benefit non-disadvantaged pupils.
